One of the biggest TikTok hits of the early pandemic days was “Supalonely,” the Australian alt-pop singer BENEE’s collab with her American peer Gus Dapperton. 

Today the duo has reunited on “Don’t Let Me Down,” a new single from Dapperton’s upcoming album 'Henge', set for release on July 7th, following a couple of stellar singles released over the past few months. 

Joining the announcement is the second collaboration between himself and Australian alt-pop singer & pop starlet BENEE, the pair delivering ‘Don’t Let Me Down’, a melancholic cut of clean dancefloor indie pop. 

The pair last joined forces on 2019’s ‘Supalonely’, BENEE’s breakout hit and one of the first global examples of music virality within TikTok.

While this new track delivers a similar danceable edge, ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ has some more sombre flavours, serious but still leaving the pair room for what they do best – having fun. 

Mellotrons deliver a bed of warmth, nostalgia, the synthetic bed of sounds joined by crisp drum grooves, and that quintessential Gus Dapperton cowbell. 

‘Don’t Let Me Down’ is floaty track, light on its feet while delivering some of the sleekest and well-curated indie pop production so far seen in 2023. 

Dapperton’s unique vocal timbre is stronger than ever, matched effortlessly by BENEE’s flawless voice, the harmonies and back-and-forth facile.

BENEE’s vocal work is consistently distinct, her range impressive and the tone of her voice pure velvet.

BENEE remains my favorite female artists.. her voice is just so amazing and seeing her go from a few songs on apple music/spotify to having Ep's and Albums has been amazing to see. Also her and gus need to continue to do songs together. This will be playing non stop in my que from now on.

Honestly this song is SOOO GOOD! Haven't been happy with the latest songs Benee has released (that's not critizising her, it just wasn't my taste unfortunately). "Don't let me down" is beautiful, melancholic and with discoesque dance beats indie pop, great mixture of Gus and Benee. ????
