Federal Member for Lyne D David Gillespie has congratulated Lake Cathie Bonny Hills Rugby League Football Club and Wauchope Scouts on securing Federal funding under the latest round of the Volunteer Grants program.
Dr Gillespie said the Football Club had been successful in applying for $1,600 which would go towards a new shade at the Lake Cathie Sporting Complex.
“During the football season the club has volunteers that can be out in the sun for many hours and I know they have been keen to have somewhere that they can go and sit out of the sun if they get a break. This grant will allow the club to purchase a portable marquee which can provide shade at the ground,” Dr Gillespie said.
“The volunteers also take the kids around to other sports fields that do not have shade so the new marquee will be also good for those days.”
Dr Gillespie also announced $5,000 for the Wauchope Scouts for new equipment and for Scout Leader training in first aid.
“The Wauchope Scouts need camping equipment including tents and cooking items, as well as outdoor equipment and new shelving and storage boxes. The Scouts will also purchase new first aid equipment and use the funds towards first aid training,” Dr Gillespie said.
Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to help community organisations for a range of needs, including buying equipment, paying fuel costs, training volunteers or improving their fundraising have been allocated to organisations like the Lake Cathie Bonny Hills Junior Rugby League Football Club and the Wauchope Scouts.
