Construction underway at lake cathie public school
Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning Sarah Mitchell, and Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams visited Lake Cathie Public School for the beginning of construction.

The shovels are in the ground at Lake Cathie Public school as construction starts on a major upgrade.

The upgrade will deliver 17 new classrooms, an inclusive support unit with two classrooms and ancillary spaces, a Special Programs Room, a new school hall and a library.

Once completed in late 2021 the school will have the capacity to accommodate up to 460 students in permanent classrooms.

Ms Mitchell said that this upgrade is something that will benefit the Lake Cathie community for generations to come.

“It fantastic that these works are starting and I'm excited for next year when the school community will be able to benefit from these upgrades,” Ms Mitchell said.

“Thanks to the tireless advocacy of Leslie, students will benefit from these upgrades for generations to come.”

Mrs Williams said she was thrilled that works were commencing at Lake Cathie Public School.

“I’m very pleased the NSW Government is delivering for the students and staff at Lake Cathie Public School,” Mrs Williams said.

We want our children to have the best education possible, and providing high-quality school facilities is a key part of that.

The NSW Government is investing $6.7 billion over four years to deliver more than 190 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
