Every member of the Smith family harbors fond memories for the family patriarch's beloved '67 Ferrari 275 GTB/4*S N.A.R.T. Spider.

To them, the car doesn't so much represent Ferrari as it does the memory of Eddie Sr., this extraordinary machine's extraordinary first owner.

Recently, in an act of incredible generosity, the family has jointly decided to part with the car, donating any and all of the no doubt considerable amount it will fetch at auction to charity—an act that would certainly bring a smile to Eddie Sr., himself a noted philanthropist.

Remembered for his friendly, effusive nature and a love of speed matched in intensity by his love of life, Eddie Sr. was a gifted entertainer who fully enjoyed his frequent visits with Luigi Chinetti to Maranello, as well as partaking in all of the wonderful events offered by the very active Ferrari Club of America.

His family's stupendous gift will serve as a fitting tribute to his legacy.

Take a look good guys, this is probably the last time/footage that this Ferrari is driven, like it should be.

It has been sold, and it won't see daylight anymore purely because the value goes up.

Business, nothing more. Not for the driving pleasure. Such a waste.

CDNCarGuy

I don't think I could bring myself to sell that... even for the 27.5 million it went for.

This is wonderful to see! Many years ago (2005) I was a corporate pilot.

We landed at the airport where this incredible car was kept. We'd heard about some P-51 Mustang airplanes being based there and went looking for them.

Much to our pleasure and surprise a friendly mechanic asked if we'd like to see a Ferrari instead.

Despite the presence of a Testarossa too, we stood staring at the most perfect car I'd ever seen.

I knew nothing about it but knew it was a memory to keep.

The most beautiful car I have ever seen.

diioriog

Any price for this car would be an insult...

YAMAURIXT500

Damn...the windshield alone is a piece of art! Just look at the thing!

I was lucky enough to see that car in person back in 2011 at the Ferrari Club of America meet in Savannah.

I was happy to see the mileage listed at over 43,000 at the time because it meant someone enjoyed driving it.

Now I know the story behind it.

It's the 3rd time I'm watching this video... this week. I've seen it more than 10 times already. Such a beautiful car.

Wonderful Automobile. Eddie Smith Sr. was my Great Uncle and had the joy of riding in this beauty through Lexington N.C when i was in my teens.

Avi Gurfinkel

I'm twelve and I love this channel <3 The stories are so inspirational, and when I grow up I want to be just like these people.

Arisgod27

Can't decide if this is my favorite Ferrari or the California SWB.  To think this man owned both at one time is amazing.

Sykohtic

Also it is theorized only about 3 of these cars are left in the world.

slim jim87

Just saying i saw this car in person and took many photos of this while in monterey at the rm auction this car was breathtaking in person

Marcel Geber

Ariel Gallo

6:21 OMG what a beautyful machine!

FC1979

A truly noble gesture by the Smith family and fitting for such a beautiful car.

Love this video, Eddie Smith Sr was a special Man, I remember him bringing this car to Homecoming, sharing his 'baby' along with other sports cars he had.

A self made Man that left the Orphanage as many many others had, a few bucks in the pocket and suitcase of clothes.

He enjoyed Life and I'm sure he is smiling on his Son and Family today for such a generous gift to charities.

MrNdubs68

My favorite classic Ferrari of all. I'm so excited that I will be able to see it in Monterey next month!!!

James Greig

Once again this video was amazing, so much emotion. Keep it up!

William Elliott

I love the photography and fonts used in the videos you do, really good in this one.
