News Story Summary:
Jake Spurdle has a rare form of bone cancer – Osteosarcoma, that without treatment, would mean a dire outcome in a short timeframe.
Sports loving Jake is showing the world how to live one day at a time, but he needs our help.
Through the support of his mum Nyky, friends Bron and Paul Watson and an Australian company called EnGeneIC to receive treatment known as nanotechnology, Jake has a real chance of a better quality of life but he needs the support of our community.
Jake is the first paediatric patient in the world with Osteosarcoma to receive this breakthrough technology…right here in our region.
A fundraising weekend has been established to help raise money and awareness of this rare form of cancer…and Jake is so excited!
The weekend line-up of events:
* Charity Golf Day is set for 12 midday on Friday 29th January at Port Macquarie’s Emerald Downs Golf Club with the support of legends from the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
* Dinner at Rydges has “Sold Out”…and we’re still looking for some smaller prizes to be donated.
* Wheel Chair Rugby with Jake and Ryley Batt is on Saturday 30th January starting at 9:30am, with legends from the Rabbitohs and local footy legends at the Port Macquarie Indoor Stadium.
Come on Port Macquarie, let’s all get behind Jake and help a fantastic young man to face a brighter future!
