China suggests use of long-range missiles against Australia
In a very worrying opinion piece in the Communist Party of China's officially sanctioned web news site 'The Global Times', the editor-in-chief implies that China will move against Taiwan & Australia.

News Story Summary:

Even though the author of this opinion piece doesn't claim his suggested plan is 'Official' we know nothing that comes out of China isn't officially sanctioned, therefore the question might be 'How close to the truth is the authors proposition'?

What's really disturbing about this opinion piece is its use of grammar, which implies that conflict over Taiwan is inevitable & pending:

The opinion piece states:

"I suggest China make a plan to impose retaliatory punishment against Australia once it militarily interferes in the cross-Straits situation".

The use of the phase "Once it militarily interferes " implies that a real situation exists and that Chinese military action against Taiwan is a matter of 'When' not "If".

The piece goes on to say:

"The [Chinese] plan should include long-range strikes on the military facilities and relevant key facilities on Australian soil".

Then:

"If they [The Australians] are bold enough to coordinate with the US to militarily interfere in the Taiwan question and send troops to the Taiwan Straits to wage war with the PLA, they must know what disasters they would cause to their country".

And finally:

"China has a strong production capability, including producing additional long-range missiles with conventional warheads that target military objectives in Australia when the situation becomes highly tense".

The use of the phrase "When the situation becomes highly tense" implies that 'The situation' defiantly will exist & meaning that China will defiantly move militarily against Taiwan.

If the notion where speculative the phase would have read "If the situation becomes highly tense".

It is highly unlikely the the authors choice of grammar was accidental.

This sort of threatening language coming from an approved Chinese Government news source should be of great concern to foreign minister Marise Payne.

Here is the full text of the opinion piece:

"Given that Australian hawks keep hyping or hinting that Australia will assist the US military and participate in war once a military conflict breaks out in the Taiwan Straits, and the Australian media outlets have been actively promoting the sentiment, I suggest China make a plan to impose retaliatory punishment against Australia once it militarily interferes in the cross-Straits situation."

The plan should include long-range strikes on the military facilities and relevant key facilities on Australian soil if it really sends its troops to China's offshore areas and combats against the PLA."

"In addition to making the plan, China should also reveal this plan through non-official channels to deter the extreme forces of Australia and prevent them from taking the risk and committing irresponsible actions."

"China loves peace and will not take the initiative to pick a fight with faraway Australia, but Australian hawks must be clear-minded."

"If they are bold enough to coordinate with the US to militarily interfere in the Taiwan question and send troops to the Taiwan Straits to wage war with the PLA, they must know what disasters they would cause to their country."

"China has a strong production capability, including producing additional long-range missiles with conventional warheads that target military objectives in Australia when the situation becomes highly tense".

The author of the above opinion piece is editor-in-chief of the Global Times.

Considering that author of this opinion piece probably doesn't even go to the toilet without getting President Xi's approval, it sounds like we'd better start building bunkers this afternoon.

Su-35 fighter jets flew over the Bashi Channel in formation with the H-6Ks for the first time, which marks a new breakthrough in island patrol patterns, said spokesperson for PLA air force.

That is the core question - what plans have china already made for retaliation against Australia if we become involved in any Taiwan conflict ? and also what's Australians plan if push comes to shove.
