Port Macquarie : City's parking problems under review
Motorists on the Mid North Coast have spoken out over a dire parking situation in Port Macquarie, the Council is now reviewing its Parking Strategy as residents struggle to access the City they love.

News Story Summary:

PMHC Parking Policy & Action Plan:

PMHC are currently reviewing the 2011 Parking Strategy and Policy to prepare a Parking Policy and Action Plan.

This plan will create a long-term vision for parking in the region, integrating a range of parking solutions into the wider transport fabric of the area.

The Council understand that car parking is a significant issue of concern for the community & they are actively working to make sure a plan is put in place to meet our region’s short-term and future parking needs.

What is the parking policy and action plan about?

The purpose of the plan is to provide an overarching, region-wide policy position and tailored parking management actions in particular focus areas.

This will make sure that the Counci is achieving the best parking and accessibility outcomes for the region.

While the review is looking at the whole region, there are a number of areas that we will focus on. These areas include: Port Macquarie West, Port Macquarie East, Lake Road Industrial, Wauchope, North Haven, Laurieton.

We are focusing on these areas as they currently experience high parking demand and challenges.

Community feedback will help PMHC to:

* Understand our community’s parking priorities

* Design potential solutions to current parking challenges and issues

* Identify emerging parking areas that will require solutions in the future

* Identify ways that we can reduce parking demand by supporting more sustainable transport options, such as active transport and public transport,

* Develop a vision for our future approach to managing parking across the region.
