News Story Summary:
Skills training at TAFE NSW Port Macquarie is set to receive a boost with the NSW Government investing $1.5 million to upgrade local training facilities.
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams said it brings the NSW Government’s total investment in TAFE NSW Port Macquarie to almost $2.5 million in recent years and demonstrates a commitment to providing locals with fit-for-purpose learning spaces they need to build skills and get in-demand jobs.
“The NSW Government’s latest investment includes a new wiring room and allows TAFE NSW Port Macquarie to increase its capacity by providing the space to cater for more electrotechnology students over time,” Mrs Williams said.
“With demand for electricians in the Mid North Coast expected to grow by five per cent over the next three years, this expansion of electrotechnology training facilities will support a pipeline of future workers.
“By refreshing local training spaces and tools of the trade, the NSW Government is ensuring TAFE NSW Port Macquarie is positioned to support the local workforce now and into the future,” Mrs Williams said.
Minister for Skills and Training Alister Henskens said the NSW Government is leading the nation in supporting people to get the skills they need for the jobs they want, which is helping grow the economy, securing a brighter future for the people of NSW.
“TAFE NSW trains 45% of government funded TAFE students in Australia. It is the nation’s largest and best training provider, and we have invested record funding in TAFE NSW to ensure it continues to deliver a pipeline of skilled and job-ready workers,” Mr Henskens said.
“Our record skills budget is delivering more fee-free training which is helping people find in-demand jobs and contributing to NSW’s low unemployment rate.”
