News Story Summary:
Port Macquarie residents are doing away with the wallet and going digital, with new figures revealing the town has the highest Digital Driver Licence (DDL) take up among regional NSW and fifth overall in the State.
“This is one of the strongest indications yet that Port Macquarie customers have an appetite and have embraced the DDL’s added convenience,” Mrs Williams said.
“Port Macquarie simply loves the technology and has voted with their smartphones. The DDL is free, safe and easy to use.”
Minister for Digital and Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said the DDL is one of a number of Government technologies making life easier for customers.
“More than 3 million customers have downloaded the DDL across NSW, with 95% giving it the thumbs up. That many people can’t be wrong,” Mr Dominello said.
“The DDL is hosted securely on the Service NSW app which locks with a PIN and can be accessed offline. It provides additional levels of security and protection against identity fraud, compared to the plastic driver licence.
“We’ve bolstered the Service NSW app so that you can also check-in safely to venues, spend Dine and Discover vouchers and register for a COVID vaccine.”
In NSW the DDL can be accepted by all businesses and industries where proof of age, identity and authority to drive is required. It is opt-in only.
