'Empire of the Sun' is an Australian electronic music duo best known for their 2008 single “Walking on a Dream.”

The duo features Nick Littlemore (Also half of the electronic duo Pnau) and Luke Steele who is the lead singer of alt-rock band The Sleepy Jackson.

Empire of the Sun's 2008 debut album, 'Walking on a Dream', brought the duo international success and has been certified double platinum in Australia and gold in the United Kingdom.

The album provided a number of internationally charting singles including "We Are the People", which peaked at number fourteen on the UK Singles Chart.

They’re known for their dreamy, ’80s-synth-inflected sound and elaborate stage productions. 

For their 2013 second  album, “Ice on the Dune” Littlemore and Steele described themselves as “The Lord” and “The Emperor,” respectively, going on “A post-apocalyptic psychedelic adventure.” 

Their style blends influences from new and ancient empires around the world, from Peking Opera–style robes to Incan headdresses.
