Mrs York’s Garden: major addition thanks to $95k grant
Leslie Williams, Member for Port Macquarie, has announced that one of Port’s most popular attractions, Mrs York’s Garden, is set to see a major addition with the building of a new viewing platform.

“Through the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund, $95,000 has been awarded to the Friends Of Mrs York’s Garden to undertake this exciting upgrade,” Mrs Williams said.

“The Friends of Mrs York’s Garden volunteer their time and energy to make this uniquely historic and beautiful location so accessible to the general public with their wonderful gardens, paths and covered seating areas.

“A viewing platform will certainly enhance the Mrs York's Garden experience for all,” Mrs Williams said.

Friends of Mrs York’s Garden President, Diane Davison said construction of a viewing platform will provide the perfect means to enjoy views of the beautiful native gardens and stunning coastal views, including whale watching.

“It will also provide an educational activity space for school and community groups, for ceremonies and events, for musical entertainment, for exercise, recreation and solace.

“It will be a structure that complements the beautification of the streetscape that has taken place at Mrs York's Garden and promotes health, happiness and wellbeing for the community,” Mrs Davison said.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said $100 million was being distributed across regional NSW, with regional communities set to benefit from more than 550 new projects.

To date, rounds one and two of the program have funded more than 1,000 projects.

“Locals across regional NSW are seeing the benefits of rounds one and two of the Fund, with projects making a big difference to everyday life, from new playgrounds loved by kids to light towers illuminating sporting fields,” Mr Barilaro said.

“We are funding grassroots projects that make a real difference to each community, and we know how important it is to support our regional towns with new infrastructure and programs.”

The $400 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $1.7 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is being invested in local programs and infrastructure that improve the lives of people living in regional NSW.
