Charles Sturt University is releasing $200,000 in funding for research grants for studies focused on understanding the impacts of COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has already had a devastating effect on families, communities, businesses and the economy.

The University is releasing $200,000 of funding to support studies on the impacts on the health, wellbeing, business performance, communities and economy of Australia.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Engagement) Professor Heather Cavanagh said projects can be in any discipline with any deliverable outcome.

The projects must focus on generating new knowledge on the impact of the virus on people or communities and/or deliver solutions for post-COVID-19 resilience and rebuilding.

"COVID-19 represents an unprecedented health crisis," Professor Cavanagh said.

"Charles Sturt University is well-placed to play a role in helping to reduce the devastating impact of COVID-19 on our businesses, community and families.

"This money will allow researchers to play an active role in ensuring the long-lasting effects of the virus are minimal and that our economy can recover."

The funding is for new projects and the chief investigator must be a current Charles Sturt University employee, however, industry and/or community partner involvement is welcome.
