With the 2020 NRL Season re-booted it's country footballers that continue to make a name for themselves at the highest level.

Roosters, NSW and Australian Captain Boyd Cordner from Old Bar is only 27 but has enjoyed incredible success with three Premiership Titles, three State of Origin Series wins and numerous victories wearing the Green and Gold.

22 year old Latrell Mitchell from Taree has enjoyed similar success and made the switch from the Roosters to the Rabbitohs to link up with Kempsey's James Roberts in the backline.

Hat Head and Smithtown are proud to claim Aidan Tolman from the Bulldogs, Wingham's Mitchell Barnett has been outstanding with the Knights and Gold Coast forward Jarrod Wallace spent a few seasons with Sawtell before he was discovered.

The Titans have signed several players from the region over the years including Albert Kelly and Tyrone Roberts-Davis (Macksville) along with Anthony Don and Tyrone Roberts (Grafton).

Mitch Aubusson from the Sydney Roosters was in High-School at Ballina when we signed his first professional contract.

Keep an eye out for a player of the future with 19 year old David Hollis from Wauchope who signed with Parramatta and has already represented NSW in the U16 and U18s.

Wauchope is also famous for giving us the 1980 "Dally M" Player of the Year Robert 'Rocky' Laurie (Souths) and Ian Schubert who played with Easts, Wests and Manly. Newcastle Knights Premiership winner, NSW and Australian Representative Danny Buderus was born in Taree and won the prestigious 2004 "Dally M" Player of the Year Award.

Local Players to have recently retired include Greg Inglis from Macksville who played for Melbourne and South Sydney and represented QLD and Australia.

After a season off Greg recently signed on to play in the English Super League competition with the Warrington Wolves in 2021.

Locals hanging up their NRL boots:

Bronco Matt Gillett was also originally from Macksville, Port Macquarie's Jeremy Latimore and Bellingen's Shaun Fensom have also hung up their NRL boots.
