News Story Summary:
The Port Macquarie-Hastings Council contract community protection on our beaches to the Australian Lifeguard Service.
Previously the Australian Lifeguard Service patrols start from the September-October school holidays and run through to ANZAC Day or the finish of the school holidays for Town Beach and Flynns Beach.
From now on Town Beach will be patrolled all year round in a major first for safety & tourism.
Lighthouse, Lake Cathie, Rainbow and North Haven Beaches provide services during the September/October, Christmas and April school holiday periods only.
Some Port Macquarie - Hastings beaches are also patrolled by Volunteer Life Savers.
Lifeguards and Surf Life Savers are only on duty when the Red and Yellow flags are in place. Swim between the red and yellow flags as this indicates the supervised swimming area.
