It is incredibly rare that a second album shows such an elevated sound in comparison to the first one and very few artists manage to take that huge step in the first few records, however, those who do, like Connie, certainly show an extraordinary talent beyond catchy musicality and lyricism.

If this first track is a sign of what’s to come, then the Watford singer-songwriter is about to solidify herself as an institution of UK music, following the steps of brilliant former up-and-comers like Little Simz and Dave.

As Connie puts it herself, “Till World’s Awake” is “The indie dance single of [her] dreams.”

From the very beginning, the track has a remarkably alluring proposal starting with a concoction of cowbells deemed down to support the addition of synths and the funkiest bass line you have ever heard.

By the time Connie’s characteristic deep and silk smooth voice gets incorporated into the song, the listener has already been compelled to stand up and dance.

As she proceeds to recite what almost feels like a manifesto of love for the millions of people who feel like underdogs in the world, the song just keeps growing and growing until it explodes into a universe of musical magic.

Referring to the track, the artist explains, “It’s truly a letter to the universe, to what some people may call God, others Allah, and so on. It’s a song that says thank you for looking out for me, thank you for the chance of making my dreams a reality, and thank you for the beautiful people that you have kept around me.”

She continues, “It feels like an empowering message that no matter how much the world we live in tries to distract us from our power, make us feel small or as if we don’t fit in"

"Nothing can take away from us the work we have done and who we are when we are together building our own opportunities amongst one another and shaping our own realities.”
