News Story Summary:
The Malibu-based startup recently unveiled the MadMods, its own line of new electric mopeds — small motorcycles with both a motorcycle engine and bicycle pedals.
The Sondors 'MadMods' electric two-wheeler features a design reminiscent of the mopeds of the 80s.
The bike design seems to take inspiration from the Super73 R series but instead of having one rear shock, it has two.
Full-suspension frames with a telescopic fork up front as well as a 750W rear hub motor and 4” fat tires compose the bike, adding to its moped aesthetic.
The only thing that contradicts this direction is the 24” diameter wheels, which are wider than what most electric mopeds have opted for.
SONDORS has commented on the autonomy of the MadMods electric bikes, but they have revealed that it will contain a 48 V / 21 Ah battery. with this capacity of one kWh, the bikes should be able to cover a distance as long as most current electric motorcycles.
‘The SONDORS MadMods are premium moped electric motorcycles defined by customization. motorcycle-inspired, with fully customizable configurations, they deliver 750 watts of raw power combined with our largest battery to date,’ said the company.
The SONDORS MadMods will be available from USD$1,490, with this price depending on the customization options. they will be available on march 2021
