About Brasilian Jiu Jitsu :

The Australian Federation of Brasilian Jiu Jitsu was founded to officially represent the sport of Brasilian Jiu-Jitsu in Australia.

Its main goals are to popularize, organize and regulate the sport in Australia to international standards.

This work is similar to what the Confederacao Brasileira de Jiu-Jitsu (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Confederation) has done in Brazil, where the sport is highly popular and follows established guidelines.

Working in accordance with the IBJJF guidelines, the Australian Federation of Brasilian Jiu Jitsu follows the rules and regulations as standard followed by Jiu-Jitsu practitioners all over the world.

The AFBJJ is also actively involved in promoting and managing high quality tournaments that are crucial for the technical evolution of the sport and its popularization.

The best example is the Pan Pacific Championship, a huge tournament held annually in Melbourne.

This competition attracts some of the best fighters in the world and is a key element for the development of the sport.

The AFBJJ has also developed the very popular National Competition Circuit.

With the appointment of State Directors in each State and Territory, official State Championships are held in each State and Territory each year.

Medalists qualify for the Australian Champions Cup (National Championship).

The Australian Champions Cup is held in a different Capital city each year, making its way all around the country.

Since Brasilian Jiu-Jitsu is constantly evolving and becoming more popular around the globe, it is just natural that the major tournaments generate a lot of media coverage.

From television to magazines and internet sites, when a competition like the Pan Pacific or Australian Champions Cup takes place the eyes of the Australian Jiu-Jitsu community and the grappling world in general turn to see it.
