A second man has been arrested after allegedly posing as a police officer and stealing cash, after a car search in Port Macquarie last month.

About 10pm on Sunday 25 November 2018, two women and a man were parked on Crestwood Drive when they were approached by two males allegedly claiming to be plain clothes police officers.

The men began searching the car and allegedly took cash from a wallet. The incident was reported to police and an investigation commenced.

About 3.15pm Friday 30 November 2018, police executed a search warrant at Pacific Drive, Port Macquarie. A 24-year-old man was arrested and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station.

He was charged with impersonate police officer and exercise powers, steal from person and common assault.

He was refused bail to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court today (Saturday 1 December 2018).

A second man was arrested on Monday 26 November 2018. The 28-year-old was charged with impersonate police officer, steal from person, 2 x good in custody, possess prohibited drug, possess unauthorised firearm, possess ammunition and possess prohibited weapon without permit.

He was due to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court on 6 December.
