Wauchope based Stabilcorp is owned by Port Macquarie Mayor Peta Pinson. Stabilcorp is a specialised road maintenance company which focuses on road safety throughout Australia.

As a result of her work with road safety, Mayor Peta Pinson has personally been the recipient of two Australian business awards in product innovation and also marketing and branding.

Stabilcorp recently received a $90k grant from the Manufacturing Modernisation Fund (MMF) to assist in modernising the business.

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said the support from the Manufacturing Modernisation Fund (MMF) came at an incredibly important time for the Australian manufacturing sector.

“The Government is committed to Australian manufacturing and supporting small and medium sized businesses here in Wauchope and across the Hunter & Mid North Coast,” Dr Gillespie said.

“This investment will not only strengthen this business and create jobs; it will provide a much-needed confidence boost for the whole region as we rebuild post the COVID19 pandemic.”

“I am determined to further strengthen Australian manufacturing and the current pandemic gives us the opportunity as a nation to reassess and commit to the values of Australian-made goods.” Dr Gillespie said.

Stabilcorp aims to increase productivity, reduce material wastage and optimize the ShoulderMaster manufacturing process by reducing assembly times, through the provision of a Computer Numerical Control Plasma cutting machine.

Up to 65% of the ShoulderMasters components are manufactured using a manual gas cutting process, the installation of a CNC Plasma machine will speed up the process of cutting components for the ShoulderMaster chassis, potentially saving up to 20% on wastage and up to 30% on manufacturing times.

Our product “ShoulderMaster” is an example of what can be manufactured in regional Australia, and exported to the world.

ShoulderMaster was designed locally to improve safety on Regional Roads by restoring road shoulders in a much more cost-effective manner than be traditional means. Our business feeds many local companies with valuable work in these challenging times and supports the ongoing training of 6 apprentices in the region.

The Grant from the Australian Government will enable us to acquire the latest CNC Plasma Cutting Technology to enhance our manufacturing operation. We have chosen to buy a machine built in Australia to reduce our reliance on overseas technology.
