The reboot, refresh, relaunch career pop-ups will provide the opportunity for those who have found themselves out of work, or whose work has reduced or been impacted by COVID-19, to speak with an advisor who will point people in the right direction for assistance.

Council Group Manager, Liesa Davies said attendees will be directed to an amazing range of career, employment, personal and professional development services.

“We know it’s a tough time for many in our community who have lost their job or business income as a result of COVID-19, and we want them to know they are not alone and there is a range of help on offer,” said Ms Davies.

“We’ve brought together specialists from many local agencies who will assist those impacted by COVID-19 to get back on track, and navigate their next career or business move.

“From rebooting your resume, creating the perfect LinkedIn profile, gaining job application tips and improving interview skills this is a great opportunity to increase chances of gaining a new job, learning new skills or charting a new career direction,” Ms Davies explained.

“We’re also offering a free styling session by The Style Vibe, and LinkedIn/profile picture by Natalie O’Donnell Photography to help launch and rebrand yourself and career.”

Director of External Engagement at Charles Sturt University, Kate Wood-Foye chairs the team of industry leaders and learning specialists working collaboratively with Council to create and deliver the pop-up concept to help individuals successfully rebrand and relaunch themselves.

“The pandemic has impacted our region significantly - not in the least highly skilled and experienced individuals who have previously been in successful, continuous careers and businesses until COVID hit in March of this year,” Ms Wood-Foye said.

“Many professionals across a wide variety of industries have experienced considerably changed work conditions, reduced work capacities and income leading to a lack of confidence and a loss of direction.

“These pop-ups were specifically designed to be a positive and powerful way for these individuals to reconnect and access professional development advice on the services, support and learning opportunities available to retrain, rebrand and relaunch themselves in a completely new career or business venture,” said Ms Wood-Foye.

In addition to the pop-up career sessions, at 2pm on Thursday 30 July mentor and motivational speaker Justin Herald will be holding a Zoom webinar to inspire those looking for work, exploring career opportunities or building their business.

Justin was our 2020 Australia Day Ambassador and is an extremely popular inspirational speaker.

At the age of 25 with $50 to his name, Justin set about changing the course of his life creating Attitude, a clothing brand that became an international success, turning over more than $20 million per year.

Justin will also make himself available after the webinar to answer any questions from attendees.
