COVID update : new NSW restrictions start tonight
Urgent contact tracing & genome sequencing is continuing in Sydney after a case of coronavirus was recorded in the community on Wednesday - 20 locations in Sydney have listed as close contact venues.

News Story Summary:

Summary of the new restrictions 06-05-21:

The following measures will be effective from midday today, May 6 2021 (enforceable from 5pm) until 12:01am Monday, 10 May for the Greater Sydney region (including Wollongong, Central Coast and Blue Mountains):

* Visitors to households will be limited to 20 guests – including children

* Masks will be compulsory on public transport and in all public indoor venues,

Mask rule effects such venues as retail, theatres, hospitals, aged care facilities and for front-of-house hospitality staff (except in a hospitality venue when eating or drinking)

* No drinking while standing up at indoor venue

* Singing by audiences not allowed

Sing rule effects indoor shows & congregants at indoor places of worship will not be allowed

* Dancing will not be allowed

Dancing rule effects indoor hospitality venues & nightclubs however, dancing is allowed at weddings with a strong recommendation that no more than 20 people should be on the dancefloor at any one time

* Visitors to aged care facilities imited to 2.

State and territory reactions so far

Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, the ACT and Queensland all require anyone who has visited an exposure sites to be tested and isolate for 14 days.

The NT requires anyone who has visited an exposure site to spend 14 days in supervised quarantine. Those who entered since 30 April must self-quarantine and get tested.

Tasmania is barring entry to anyone who has visited exposure sites, unless approved as an essential traveller. Those already in the state since April 30 must self-isolate for two weeks.
